reving the engine!

hey guys i have a question, yesterday when i came back from work i parked my car and i reved a couple of times to hear how my magnaflow exhaust sounds like when the car is heated up nice. about the third time a reved the engine it sounded like it was going to explode. reved it up to like 3 thousand rpm and all the sudden it revs even more higher witout me hiting the gas pedal, it was hitting like over 5 rpm and going even more, for a couple seconds i didnt no what to do because the rpm wasnt going lower. so i just turned off the car. turned it back on after about 20 seconds still was idleing at around 2.5 and getting even more higher, turned off the car came back in about an hour and it was normal. by the way the car is automatic , i dont get what happened?

it happened manytimes with me on my E34 540 it was the petrol caple was locked in somewhere, i had just to move it little out and it works fine since

I don't think it would be the accelerator cable as the 530s are drive by wire.

Was a floor mat maybe pushing on the accelerator pedal?

BTW, I would like to meet up and hear & see your exhaust. Where was it done?

au contraire, my friend, you KNOW there's no leak...but tell you what... the only thing you CAN hear is your half-functional muffler in between that ghetto-chopped up stock bumper exhaust hole...

Thanks for the offer, but the two extra cylinders would confuse me
Does the I6 have the same droning issues as the 540s?
