punch your kidney grille out, and try manually pulling on the release cable.

If you remove the kidney grilles, and cut the plastic peice you can gain access to the wire. Its a real bitch.

Did the cable snap?

the last time i opened the hood, it was for an oil change, about a month ago. other then that, the hood hasn't been popped.

has anyone heard of holding the hood lever and popping the release at the same time to open the hood?

yaa thats how i ended up poppin my hood when i first got the car...u need 2 people for this procedure one to hold the lever and one to lift the hood at the same time..if it doesnt work: close the hood by pushing it down, bring the lever back to original position then try the steps mentioned above again.

update us

hey - it worked. i got my wife to hold the lever and I pressed the latch. the hood went up no problem. however, now the hood doesn't stay up...

not so much of a problem... is this a sign that something is going to go wrong soon with the cable hood?

for your hood latch problem, do yourself a favour and call up the stealership, you'll wanna replace both latches (32 each) the middle cable (22) and the main cable (34 i think) those were straight from the bmw stealership (which i thought wasnt too bad) dont wait too long, because if you do you'll have a hellova time like i did, luckily i was working at "the" shop at the time
