recirculation light stays on

this is driving me F@#$en nuts.

87 325is.
changed the resister
the ground wire for the blower has a short (tester light comes on faintly), when i put the tester to it the passneger side re-circ flaps opens and closes every time I tough it.
There is a relay under the dash the has 6 flat plugs to it. there is a brown wire that runs from 1 connector to another. If I ground that wire, everything works 100%, problem is that the wire i use to ground it gets hot as hell as there is power to it.

Any ideas?????? HELP

use a smaller gauge wire?

no seriously, why not use the smaller gauge? maybe the smaller gauge wire can take the power that is being sent through it, so it doesnt ment and or start a fire.

Do you mean a larger Gauge? eg: 14 or 16 instead of 22? Using a wire from your everyday CAT5 network cable will not suffice.
Larger gauge should offer less resistance to the circuit. Resistance = heat.
What gauge of wire are you using and what voltage do you see? There may be something wrong if you are using a decent size wire but its overheating.
Does it heat up at low speeds? or only high?
