just picked up a 92 325i. There seems to be a problem with the engine. The car has 219km but is in mint condition. The problem is when the engine is idling it shakes alot but when i rev it up to over 2000rpm the shaking stops. What can be the cause of this problem.
start with the cheap things first. I'd find out when the plugs were last changed and try that as your starting point. start eliminating the small and cheap things first.
I have changed the plugs and did an oil change an it still continues to do it. Some one told me something about engine coils or something like that. Could that have anythin to do with it.
did the car throw a CEL code?? If so, i can read the codes and tell you. Coils have been known to go, especially since it's a 92. find out what's been changed before you got it. there's probably a lot of original parts?? good luck.
thats what i am gonna do. Ill check it all out and if i need more info ill get back to u if u dont mind. U seem to know alot more than i do on this thing
i'm sure a few others will chime in on your thread. i had a similar issue a while back and it turned out to be a tank of 'bad' gas!! believe it or not! happened once on my motorcycle too.
I am gonna start with the small stuff like u said rico but if it dosent improve than ill have to tow it to a bmw mechanic to see if they can figure it out. The gas was empty when i got the car and havent goten the chance to fill it up yet. Ill fill it up with super gas and let it idle for a bit and see if that can make it better.
