I voted E46, possibly because I own one. Maybe, subconsciously, I voted for it because I'm biased.

SAAB, I love it too. I love the style and its Swedish quirkiness, but as people said, it'll rape you on maintenance.

A6, rather large compared to the other two, but if more space is what you're after then this might be your choice.

You mention one of the cons of the SAAB as being FWD, but isn't Audi's Quattro system FWD-biased? If not, their weight distribution definitely is. Their engines are way fore of the front axle. Prob doesn't matter TOO much since they're still great handling cars, but as a personal taste, I've never liked Audi's too much because they tend to be very front-heavy and heavier overall in general due to this layout and their (excellent) Quattro system.

Just go all out and get the S6, or if you really want big, get an A8L.

How about an E39 M5 or even a 540 or 530?

E36's don't have it either.

And for the poll, I don't even have to click to know that the E46 will murder the A4 or the Saab. Saab and Audi reliability issues coupled with small dealer infrastructure already should put the car off your shortlist- also, their driving dynamics do not match the BMW- which leaves only one clear decision.
