Total Repaint

I know this may sound stupid, but I always wondered. When you are totally repainting a car, and your car is a light colour like silver, is it cheaper to paint to a dark colour like black and more expensive to paint to a light colour light alpine white? I ask because, with a dark colour you would not need to prime down as much since it is going darker. With white, you would need to make sure the silver will not come through or am I just an idiot? Sorry I have no clue when it comes to paint.

i dont know, good question, i still wonder if a cabby should be cheaper to paint then a 2dr or 4dr? technically it should, because after all u are doing a colour change right...

No, not really...In most cases the prep work is done to get a nice surface for the new paint. In some cases, like painting over red, it take a lot to cover, so it makes prep work a bit harder. Other then that price of some colours is higher then other, but not enaugh to make a big diff in the final price...
