A few hairpins...

Took this pictures two weeks ago from the top of a double-decker bus. This is the road from Santiago, Chile to Mendoza, Argentina. At this point, we've basically crawled up a valley to get over the Andes. Never seen anything like this before.

the only time ive seen stuff like that - was on a trip out west, in the states - some of the roads over the mountain passes / continental divide out there were like that. so many switchbacks - we were driving a 1978 pace arrow motorhome - so no drifting for us ahhaha

A few more pics...

1. heading to the hairpins
2. start of the hairpins
3. after the hairpins
4. Chile / Argentina border

I'd love to take a car through this but the traffic was very slow and with good reason. One mistake and the consequences could be fatal.

This road also climbs to 3400 meters so non-turbos would be a bit short on power.

In the last pic you'll see concrete bunkers protecting the road from rock/snow avalanches. Our bus almost side-swiped a container truck at one point.
