It shouldn't be a suprise.

The E92 is just 30hp less, but has more torque, especially in the midrange.

All things being equal, the E92 should be neck and neck.

What your seeing there is likely more aggressive gearing of the E46 and SMG tranny.

actually the E92 puts out more power than the E46 according to the dyno.

E46 M3 must have better gearing.

The 335 may weigh more which would also make a difference.

Don't be too sure.

335 won't take much to ramp up the power unlike the E46 M3.

I'd wager it won't take long before tuners come out with larger turbo's and tuning to go with it to get over 400rwhp.

Try that with the S54 motor.

Actually Tony, a tuner (Horsepower Freaks) in the U.S. are now developing turbo kits for the S54 and producing over (corrected) SAE 630wHP @13.5psi with stock internals!

Check out this thread. Pretty close according this this guy.

I'd probably still pick the E46M3. The "M" is about the total package. As a Bimmer fan its not all about straight line speed.

So, you're saying that the 335i is only about straight line speed? What is missing from the 335i that doesn't make it the 'total package', as you put it?
