E39 Late model tails into early model.

Anyone have a writeup on how to do the conversion. Have taillights from what seems like a newer model, the connector is different than the one in the car for the old style tails. Im sure tons of people have done this upgrade, I just need to know where I can find the connector for the newer ones (dealer?) and if anyone has a writeup on which color wires on the old go with which color wires on the new.

Thanks,
Seb

oh boy

I just took a closer look at the whole thing. All I have is the new lights.
Does anyone know where I could get the rest of the kit? Or is there another way of switching the connectors?
Thx

which new light do you have, the ones with the clear/no ambers, or the ones with no ambers with LED running lights?, if you have the LED version there should be a module on each tail light

If you can't install them or don't want to I will buy the lights from you ...

Just kidding... on a side note I would just like to know where you bought them from.. and what kind they are

Thanks Chin

Make sure you have the right ones, The ones that come with the retrofit kit are euro spec. There are minor differences that make a huge difference. If you get just the tailights off a 2001+ car they will not work and you will have a puddle in your spare tire well, b/c the light doesn't seal.

Just a heads up. I would just get a retrofit kit, it makes life a helluva lot easier.
