Not a happy camper...HID failure
So tonight one of my HID's went out. I was praying that it was a fuse but no such luck. Now I have to poke around in the cold to see what is going on. Hopefully it's a loose connection but I have a feeling it's the bulb...or worse, the ballast.
I bought them in November 2004 but didn't install them until April 2005. I wonder if the place I bought them from would give me a replacement. Got to figure out what is wrong first.
Anyone else have this problem? It is an Xtec kit, 5000K.

Yeah, but these SHOULD last longer than halogens.

They usually do, obviously they're not PERFECT, but they are pretty damn close to!
Likely just a faulty bulb, which may have been a defect in general or it may have even been cause if the bulb was not installed correctly (remember, your not supposed to touch the bulb AT ALL!!)!!

I just bought the exact same kit -5000k X-TEC- from QMR motorsports and on their website they claim X-TEC warranties their kits for a lifetime including the bulbs. Check it out: http://www.qmrmotorsports.com/shopbm...oducts_id=2701

they do warranty for lifetime. My ballast went out and they went out of their way to ship a new one back to me......(they actually tried 3 times with USPS and gave up and shipped it UPS for me)

Umnitza doesn't sell XTEC products anymore...they had a huge flame war with apexcone (maker of xtec products) on bfc. Call xtec. I know because I bought my xtec from umnitza, but xtec ( www.apexcone.com) took care of me.

hey T-Spec... that link you posted. is that an HID kit that will work in the stock US headlights? why did i always assume you need to upgrade to euro projectors before you can go to HID's?

It might work if you get the proper bulbs, but euro projectors will focus the beam and take full advantage of the HID. Euro projectors use H1 bulbs, I'm not sure what bulbs the us spec ones use.
You'd probably be happier upgading your headlights to euro ones, than putting Hid's in you stock plastic housings.

You can put HIDs behind the stock headlights...they will look like crap though.
People upgrade to projectors because the'll give you a nice beam output and cutoff line. The stock lights will just scatter the light everywhere.
