they tend to skip.. the clarion quality isn't as good as it usto be. your much better off with a Alpine at the same price, the alpine has better features and is way more user friendly.

clarions used to be known for the best voltage pre-outs (which you should look at if your the person that wants maximum bass) but Alpine is the top of the market now or so it seems for the moment...technology will change...Alpine wont always be at the top...some company right now is probably in production of something to surpass Alpine quality (never beat video quality...audio yes)

Kenwood isn't to bad might i say...the KDX 969 i believe its called, is amazing, about $200+ something like that, amazing quality...my friend has it in his Intrigue...for stock speakers and that deck...it pounds!

I have had nothing but problems with KenWood Decks over the past few years, friends ect... All in the 2-300 $$ price range hope their higher end is still good.
They used to be good in the early 90's but they changed for some reason.

And in my oppinion never buy a deck from a place like Future shop or Best Buy, unless you want the "Good enough".

I have a kenwood right now.. its not even 2 years old it breaks up all the time on MP3's (cant find folders, buffer fails with scratches), the pre-outs are useless (not even a true 2 volt), the tuner sucks, the face plate contacts fail, all the buttons are lose and the whole face plate wobbles.

i donno but id spend the extra money and get an alpine or eclipse, even higher end pioneer is good too.

I've got the model up from that Clarion (645 I believe) and I've had no problems in 6 months of owning it. I'm very happy with it. I mostly use the SIRIUS satellite radio function.
