Does anyone here own an 850?

I am interested to hear from 850 owners on the daily-driver reliability of this car.

Can it be driven daily?
Is the required maintenance exessively costly?
Can the vehicle be serviced by the owner? (regular maintenance only)
How difficult/costly would it be to convert an automatic 850 to a 6-speed?

Thanks!

I dont own one but they are siiiiiick. I have heard the maintenance costs are fairly high though given the rarity of many of the parts. that said my only buying advice for one of these cars would be make sure it has a FULL service history otherwise walk away... A 3 series you can get by if it hasnt been Maintained to the T, but an 850....

also, from what I have read you are better off with an 840 - Very similar performance to the 12, theoretically lower running costs.

but if you have the $$$.... a 1995 850 Csi would be pretty nice

Yes
Reasonable ...what you would expect from a BMW
If you're referring to changing fluids, breaks, etc ... then I don't see why not
Very costly - not worth it ... try to find 6speed if you can

PS: you would have less problems with 840 - more reliable
