Getting into the whole BMW scene

Im interested in buying a 97 98 99 BMW 540i or 528i

Anything I shoudl look out for.
And if someone could post what kind economy they get on any of these 2 cars I'd appreciate it.

Im leaning towards a 540i but afraid about gas. Im getting rid of a GMC Yukon for that reason.

I got a 98 540, drive mostly hwy, I get about 450-550km per tank, the worse I've gotton was 300km a tank, but that was my right foots fault

and how much to fill up on regular gas?

not sure, I only use Sunoco 94, and gas prices varies way too much now, could be anywhere from $50-$60

Do some research first and you might find out that the biggest difference is insurance not necessarily gas.

The 528 is obviously more fuel efficient, where as the 540 rocks...

540i has burst radiator issues, and leaking valve cover gaskets (higher mileage) where the 528 don't have these issues...

the 528 however has the "lack of power" issue
