I have the Kenwood MP3 player and it looks very good with the other lights. You can choose between green or red. 8017 is the model I think.

Well, originally I got the SONY one, and it sucked big time. No IDTAG support, no Long filename support, total crap basically. I returned it and got the Kenwood one. It blends very nice with the dash, the buttons can be either green or red. It looks very plain, just like a regular kenwood deck. Supports IDTAG, long file names.
Overall, I've been very satisfied with it. The only thing it doesn't do is random play accross multiple folders but I can live with dumping all the songs in the root.
Last time I did any research on the mp3 decks was a year ago, since then a lot has probably changed. Look around.

Nakamichi head units come in green or amber [what you want]
See if you can find some at your local audio shop. As a plus, Nakamichi HUs are some of the best out there. Sometimes the amber display needs to be special ordered though.
You can also buy a green display unit, and order a red display faceplate later.

Check out the MB-75.

Nakamichi and some Alpine units are backlit to match bmw amber
The Nakamichi unit is the MB-75,
The Alpine unit is the CDA-7894 (switches between green and amber)
The Nakamichi unit is great because its 6 cd in dash (no cartridge). Theres also an addition to it that is the same size that holds another 6. Saw an m3 that had the additional piece installed in the space below the OBC. Looks oem, and you can't beat 12 cd in dash capacity.
I'm replacing my sony mobile es 10+1 with a nakamichi if my car ever gets out of the shop.

Blaupunkt used to have one headunit that looks really stock. Its called Toronto RDM 126. It is unfortunately out of production now but you can still find used one on ebay. It has the exact same colour as the display on a BMW dashboard. Also the the panel looks clean without too much buttons, unlike the Kenwoods one. It is a medium quality headunit and it is really expensive, even for a used one. But if you want the your dashboard to look stock with an after market head unit, then the BLaupunkt Toronto is the way to go. I was contemplating on buying one but decided to wait for the new Blaupunkt Woodstock instead.
By the way, this is my first post and I must say that I have learn alot from the posts in this forum.

Blaupunkt
I would recomend the Munchen RDM 169 or the Travel Piolot RSN 149-150 they are the closest you can get to a stock look out there, I used to work for blaupunkt for a while and the decks are realy good, I will sell you my Munchen RDM 169 (i'm upgrading to the Travel Piolt (nav system) www.blaupunkt.com

Hi all,
I found a deck last night when I was out and about that would probably do the trick. It allows the backlight to change between 67 colors. I tried it out and you can have it an exact. I think that this is the one I am going to get or the Kenwood 8017. Here is the link to the first deck I was talking about :

What does everyone think of the Sony Xplod series mp3 cdplayer headunit? I saw one for sale for $300 used. Is that a good price?
