Glovebox position damper replacement (Full Video on how to install)
As most of you will be aware, the damper that holds the glovebox both back and forward (when you pull it forward) tend to not work after about 8/9 years old. I discovered this also seems to be the reason the handle pulls out on most glove boxes.
The damper isnt strong enough to keep the whole unit back up inside so puts way to much pressure on the latches, then as you pull the handle the handle pulls out instead of pulling the cable.
The fix is to replace this damper, which is not a nice job, most of it is on video, i couldnt record the last part as it was just to tight for my head, camera, hammer and other compression tools.
Have a watch and your see what i mean. My glovebox now works and my handle is ok without needing to replace it. It wasnt a nice job, i would think theres about 1-2 hours work all in with all the right tools and time (and some powerful torches).
