Question D1S Replacement - Failure

I had a driver side low beam failing (purple) so bought a pair of replacement D1S bulbs.

Problem now is both sides are dead and can't see anything that would cause this failure.

Everything I'm reading suggests ballast failures, but that makes no sense that both sides would fail after bulb replacement.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

JT

Ballast failures happen when the bulb is no good.
A quality bulb will last years with the original ballast. I have driven my car since 06' and I have changed the bulbs once till date.

I had some knock off Phillips that craped out may ballast. Found a guy with a rebuilt ballast and installed that and a fresh set of Morimoto's and no issues since.
