Wanted: Advice

Hi:

I currently own a 03 E39 530i Sport (auto/M pkg). This coming September I'll be retiring and plan on spending the winters in FL or TX. I want a diesel SUV to tow a cargo trailer with my Harley touring.
I'm looking at a budget of about $45k. The new M-B GLK 250 blue tec will be out sometime this year. It looks pretty nice. I'm trying to decide if perhaps a slightly used X5 D would be better/more reliable/luxurious/handle better etc. FYI the M-B trailer hitch is about $600.

Anyone have similar experiences/opinions??

E39 will be sold this fall as well.
