Potential Buy - Advise
Hi Guys,
Im planning on buying my first E46, preferably with low mileage. After searching through previous discussions - I decided on a 330i. Was on CL and found this:
http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/cto/3456175059.html
Im planning to go see and test drive the vehicle this weekend, but based on the information provided it looks pretty good.
What do you guys think? Is the price reasonable for this car? If not how much should i be paying?
Thanks

The price is on the high end, make sure the milage is supported by some kind of records, or its good for nothing! Also get it checked for bodywork, IMO it had some front end work done, (does not look original)...

Auto? Looks alright it does say negotiable on price which is good, 12k is a tad high. That said, if its in great shape it would be worth that much for sure

Thanks all, Not sure if its a auto - owner hasnt replied to my email yet.
Im actually looking for a sedan, and based on my search there are very few with low mileage , this being one of them.
As per email conversation with the owner - he is willing to go down to 11.5 but thats it.
A few of the replies said the asking price is a bit high, Could you tell me what a reasonable price would be for this car? Or let me put it this way how much would you pay?

Remeber the BAD side of a low milage car; chances are non of the big repairs are done yet. So when you hit 100-150K, you will be stuck paying for A LOT of things that need to be done (mostly due to age too, no just milage).
If the car is super clean and accident free, i would say $8-10.

While I agree that an awareness of future maintenance costs should always be considered when purchasing a vehicle, I'm not convinced that I would pass up a clean low km model for a comparably clean but much higher km model for the difference of a few $k. Then again, I do tend to place a premium on lower km vehicles and that’s just personal preference.

You want to buy my car?
2001 325i, 5-speed
90,xxx KM, all original.
The price would be more favorable than the one you found on CL.

For that price it probably has +200k km and has been driven into the ground...based on the above it's not exactly what the OP is after (i.e. low kms). For a low km e46 m3 you're still in the mid to high $20's (ex: http://www.maxbimmer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=155004 ). I'd suggest that ac_2007's 325 is closer to the mark (slick ride btw).

Do you have any idea of what quality M3 you will get for $11K!!? Sure they may claim "no accidents", but then again I had dealers trying to convince me "it's all original paint" when I could still see pieces of the masking tape still on the car! ROFL
