ok my 2002 325 just died. started hesitating at part throttle, then totally stalled and wouldn't restart. it did seen to be ok at more that 50% throttle before it died.
engine code reads lean on the exhaust.
my guess is bad fuel pump. what do you guys think?

I'm just sitting here waiting for CAA to you're my car to cross ave auto. anyone recommend any other shops closer to Mississauga near the qew?

I can't hear the fuel pump either, and the car won't restart, so probably not the maf. I just wish it happened near my home so I could replace the pump myself. seems to be a pretty common failure.

Check the intake boot, could be split. Unmetered air causing a lean condition. E46's are known for them.

Car would still run if that was the case.

Goodluck finding a fix, shouldnt be too hard.

Tow truck driver said he had another E46 with coolant system failure earlier today.

Yea, I don't think it was the intake. I replaced it a few years ago, plus car would start if that was the case as mentioned above.

Anyhow, I hope it's just the fuel pump. It's the only thing that makes sense. Maybe the throttle could have failed and stayed closed?

Too many common issue could have caused this, won't know for sure until you get it looked at. GL

lol, in my garage maybe. Not in the dark in middle of the road. I died while I was waiting at a red light.

I felt it hesitating around 1000-2000 rpm while moving, so at the light, I tested by revving a bit, then it just died.
We'll see tomorrow.

I once had this happen in my e36, turned out it was the maf but like we've said could be anything from fuel delivery to a vaccum leak in the boot to tps to the price of tea in china.

lol.. true, you never know.
So you couldn't restart your car with the MAF problem?
It happened so quickly that it's hard to believe it could be a vacuum problem. 30 seconds after the first hesitation it died completely. Certainly felt like fuel starvation.
