Winter tires advice please!!

I have 328 xdrive 2009 and am looking for a set of winter tires. It's my first BMW and need advice. Dealership sells them for 3200 approx plus tax. So I am looking for used. Kijiji has a few listed. I don't want run flats. Currently I have 205/55R/16 summer tires (run flats-sadly). What should I look for when buying/checking tires for my car?
Will 335 i 2007 tires with 205 / 50 R17 and bolt pattern 5x120 fit my car? OR
Will 2002 325 xdrive tires with 205/50/17 225/50/17 E46 E90 E61 fit?
Will other models wheels like 5 series or M3 fit?
Anyone can recommend non-dealership used tire seller.

Just find out what wheels off which models fit your car. Find a set of rims and then buy winter tires for them and if you want to save even more find used winters. what a F'N joke $3200

I see your argument vs used. But let's talk new. You have to be a Morron to spend that much on dealer trash options. For $3200 I can get him BRAND NEW bbs lm rep rims in 19 AND BRAND NEW BLIZZAKS. Yes brand new.

Dealer is probably quoting you RunFlat snows, BMW Rims, and Pressure Sensors... but still.

Tirerack is talking about TPMS tire pressure monitoring system. IS this worth getting for snow tires?

CANADA model BMWs do not use TPMS. it's FTM (flat tire monitor), piggy-backs off the ABS sensor.

Tpms is for idiots. It's like a light telling you your headlights are off driving at nighttime . Are you that dumb? Check your pressures. If your car pulls or makes any noise gtfo of your car and look at them.

Was able to find a few packages.
Current wheels are 205/55/16R. I want to go with 17 inch winter tires
For 17 inch wheels: A few tire shops have recommended 225/45/17R. Others say 225/45/17. Which one would be recommended for my model.

16" rims on a E90/E92 is just too small from a look perspective.

I found that even 18" on these cars look small. I changed mine up to 19's and it looks amazing. Fills up the wheel gaps. 18" looks nice on a E46.

I'd personally put snows on the 16" factor rims. Keep with the 205 width tire size for the snows... they will really dig into snow if needed. Better tranction than 17/225's... Think Ice Skates vs snow shoes. You want tranction...

I'd order new rims and 17/18" summer tires...

There's no point in going 17" Snows.. you want thin snows!!!!

You have an X so honestly you dont need pure winters unless you of course are using strictly summers any ways. I have run the michelin wet/dry all year for years on my X and love em.

Best bet is call Phil at Eurostyle above, wont beat his prices I bet.

I'm tending to agree with Blackedout95. If you bought a Xdrive it should be better than just RWD. That's the main reason I went with a Xdrive. I replaced the Runflats with Cooper CS4 205/55/R16 All Weather tires. So far I've been happy with them but when snow comes, I'll really know how good they are for everyday winter driving. I tried a few things during the recent heavy rains we have been having in Toronto. The combination of traction control and tire design work well with the 328xi. I can stop on a dime and accelerate somewhat aggressively without alot of spin in most cases (with DTS disabled.).
