Mods for the 330ia vert?
Hey guys, new posting in this section. My father in law bought an 01 330 vert and i wanted to maybe give him an xmas gift or something for his car.
Is there a markd chip, or headers or an intake or anything...that would give him some extra hp for this engine thats simple?

M54 is pretty hopeless power wise.
I wouldn't bother with anything like that

Any non-power mods an option? I love my zhp shift knob and that's pretty cheap! Maybe a nice SSK to go with big drivability upgrade

Non power mods are def an option. But it only has 2 pedals lol. Its more of a cruiser for him and I just asked him and he's not interested in more power, so it limits what he can do. I was thinking spacers? I dunno.

Under drive pulleys for about 3 bills, also puts a bot less strain on your engine accessories

Also makes them less efficient and adds about 2hp
Dave you could get him one of these if the car didn't come with one already:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/WIND-DEFLECT...item2a206274e4
Or get him an Mtech front bumper and have it painted for him. That would really change the look of the car!

...actually it adds 3% which is about 7 hp on a 330...and if you're worried about inefficiency, then you might as well get an M3

3% on paper? I really want someone to prove me wrong and demonstrate that underdrive pulleys actually have these gains on a dyno. Regardless, anything under 10hp gain remains basically unnoticeable.
To the OP, why not get him some LED tail lights to update the look of the rear? They'd only run about $250 shipped, or in some cases cheaper. I'd really like to know where and how an Mtech bumper could come under $500 painted.

$200 for the bumper (aftermarket, but polyprop), you could always find someone to paint for under $300.

Awesome, thanks Kurt! I was wondering about the windscreen when he picked it up cause it doesnt have one. It fits in no problem?

How about just a more aggressive muffler? There's lots of options.
It'll sound nicer, even if it doesn't go faster.
Or, do him a favour and replace his water pump, tensioner, idler, and belt before they fail on him.

Forget all the other stuff, get the wind deflector... it's a God-send for a convertible and makes driving with the top down MUCH more enjoyable, especially if his wife has longer hair.
