Spec is 1L/1000km, at least that's what the E34 M5's were.

Can you reference this? I have trouble believing that having 1L or less of oil left in a to-spec engine by the next oil change, is remotely normal. My S38 didn't burn 1L in one interval before the rebuild, after it didn't burn any (and that includes HPDEs), let alone in 1000km. Maybe 10,000?

I am going by what my E34 M5 manual states, except it's put as such "oil usage up to 150ml per 100km is considered normal". What it really means is 1.5L/1000km
And this which is specific to the S62 http://ebookbrowse.com/117454d128629...pdf-d283931337
