Project update...sorry no pics....

This thread is starting with a whole bunch of fail as I didn't take pics along the way, I'll post finished pics when I'm done! It all started when I dropped a valve in December. Parked the car, and started to think about what I wanted to do at that point. After a lot of thought, and changing my mind about 300 times, I decided to put a stock M20 back in. Two reasons, one, I don't intend on keeping the car for more than another year, and the other because I would never get my money out of a swap with something else, especially since it's a 4 door.

So I got an M20 in very unbelievably good shape, and decided to freshen up a bunch of things. Slave cylinder(on order), brake calipers, gas tank, fog lights, sport leather interior, reverse lights working, e36 M3 steering rack and that's about all I can think about for now. The project isn't done but after today there is exhaust, power steering, a/c, driveshaft, rad, coolant hoses, shifter to connect and that's about it. I'm hoping I could have the car back on the road by next weekend.....At this point that's a lofty goal as I have a lot of commitments between now and then but I'm going to try!!!

An unbelievably big thank-you goes out to all that helped along the way Scott, Graeme, Mike, Devon, Dave, Kurt, and a Huge thanks to Richie for parts, transport and labour!!! You guys are what the Bimmer community is all about!

I'll update with pics after I clean up the car!

Thanks again guys!

So how did the progress go Friday? Sorry since I'm working this weekend had to give one day on Easter to the wife.

is the motor in yet, I picked up an engine hoist with fold-able legs and a leveler on Wednesday, let me know if you need the leveler attachment to throw the motor back in.

John, we absolutely need a picture of you standing in your engine bay with no motor in it with a confused look on your face and shrugging your shoulders.

I'd get it printed on t-shirts...

I told him we needed the mandatory engine bay monster pic to make it official, but it's too late now. We got his new engine put in over the weekend.

Ditto. I was out fiddling with my turbo heap until 12:30.

Since first start up and break in are non issues with this pre-seasoned motor you're swapping in.... I think the typical first start video should be replaced by a first burn out video...
