Heard about this earlier, didn't know it was finalized. Going to be interesting as now BMW's arch rival now can compete in the motorbike segment too.

that's what I've heard as well, the deal hasn't gone through yet, anything can happen in the automotive world.

They have right of first refusal to buy the company until April. A lot closer than previously thought and Ducati has a higher valuation than earlier reported.
Surprised their partner MB AMG didn't make bolder moves? Kiss that one goodbye.

India's Mahindra and Hero, Daimler and Volkswagen are said to be among the leading suitors, but CAR can reveal that Audi has struck an exclusivity deal giving it first dibs on Ducati.
|
Audi is under Volkswagen AG
Ultimately Volkswagen will own it.
Although I can see how Ducati would rather be known to have been bought out by a marque that produces a supercar than the one that produces the beetle.

Sounds like you missed the last 4 years.
In 2008 Porsche wanted to buy VW, but in 2009 VW bought 49.9% of Porsche stock and it is planing a complete buy out in the near future.
So no, Porsche does not own VAG, VAG owns Porsche.

I see. I was under the impression that Porsche had some 'top tier' company that controlled the Auto brands like VAG and Porsche AG (kind of like how 'BMW Group' controls BMW, Mini, Rolls Royce etc.)
