E30 Insurance!
Hey guys, as you can see am new to the forum, I just got my E30, finally found the perfect E30 that i wanted, has 180,000 4 door 325i black clean shell! anywho am really happy that i finally found it after a good search, so i finalized everything, and now am looking for an Insurance Company here ottawa, canada, so i started calling and it seems that almost no company insures a E30, apparently its "too old", Bel-Air wont touch it, and every other insurer are quoting me 4k-6k premiums, the cheapest one way quote i got was $3600, i currently drive a VW jetta its a 07 2.0 and am paying 120$ a month
my driving record is flawless, am 22, with literally nothing on my file not even a parking ticket, ive been driving for about 4 years! my main question and reason for the post, is to find out who are u guys insured with and how much are you paying! because with all honesty i might end up selling the car and go for a E36 insurance is alot cheaper!
Any advice possibly referrals will help, i really dont want to sell this car i love my e30

TD molesche monnex (sp) I pay $57/month on a 99 328is - Plus if you are a professional and have a designation they take that into count and reduce from there.

Before buying any car, always, always, always call your insurance companies for a quote. That should be your first step.
StateFarm might be a good choice. It wouldn't be an issue if you're an existing customer.

Ya his rates are low. When I was with TD Meloche I was paying way more. Switched to Johnson and pay a bit less now.
sproule905 must be over 55 or he has some serious friends over at TD. I dont think I know a single person who lives in Toronto and pays less then $110/mo for any kind of car.
Whats your secret sproule905?

I live in Mississauga (same rating as Toronto) and pay less than $100/mth for both my cars, also with Meloche Monnex. No friends at TD and not even close to 55.

What's my secret you ask? Well I am not 55.. I am 31. zero tickets in the last 5 years. Can't say the same for 6 years, but that is all that the laws of Ontario look back into... I do not have any connections at TD whatsoever. I do though, have my car insurance grouped with my home. But that savings I believe is 10%. Still better than nothing I figure.
I am a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.), TD recognizes this. I got my gf to switch over as well, but she is on her own plan. And of course, TD recognizes her RDH (Hygienist) designation.
When I get my PMP, and LEED AP, I believe TD will recognize those as well and save save save.
TD also has an accident forgiveness policy if you ever need it.

TD Insurance, as said before. Everyone else wanted 500+$ a mo from me, now td insures me for less than 200 a mo. Try em out. Good luck

When I got my E30 I was 21 years old and it was my first time being insured under my own name, also I had 1 at fault accident. Statefarm was a joke, they quoted me like $7500/yr. while all the other places were around $2200-$3200 per year. My car was only 19 years old at that point so belairdirect would insure it. They were the cheapest quote I got around $1800/yr (keep in mind all the quotes I was getting were just for liability). The next year my premium was around $1600/year and this year when it cam up for renewal I had around $1300/yr, however because I couldn't insure my other E30 with them I decided to switch to TD Meloche Monnex. They gave me around $1400/yr for comprehensive and $1800/yr to insure both cars, this is also before getting the professional status discount. I am now registered with PEO and that will drop my premium to around $1300/yr for the one car.

welcome to the Engineering field. I will soon get mine, but have a few other letters I am looking at.
As for State Farm, have you seen the size of the building they built up in Aurora.. just off the 404... no wonder their rates are through the roof.

hey guys sorry to revive a dying thread here...
But I have recently moved to the mississauga area and am finding huge issues insuring my 2000 323i sedan....
i only have one ticket on my record and anywhere back in kingston i was being quoted anywhere from 80-150 bucks a month.
the cheapest quote I can find ANYWHERE in toronto has been over 3500 a year... is this a toronto thing ? (this is with or without the ticket being input into the online quoting service).
Keep in mind I am 23... will it continue this way until I hit 25 ?
