Need cheap snow tires - advice please?
Hi. I'm looking for a cheap set of winter tires for my e36. I lived in Toronto last year and made do with my all seasons but I'm now in Guelph and I think I'm going to have a lot more trouble this winter.
I'm a starving student and trying to keep my costs down. I checked Costco but found that their prices are about the same as the chain tire shops. Any advice for a good cheap place for snow tires? Somewhere around Guelph or Kitchener. I guess I could go as far as London or Mississauga.
Thx!

Nexen winters at Walmart. They're no X-Ice2 but still excellent for the money.

I'll only buy my tires from Tirerack now. Have them shipped to their closest installer across the border from you. Go over the boarder and have them install them. You save a TON of money. I got all 4 of my Hankook v12's for 400$! Duty isn't all that bad, at least not bad enough to justify buying in Canada.

Not so sure about used tires but i guess it would be a good idea to pick up used wheels.

Goodyear Nordics have a hell of a bite in the snow and ice, and are some of the cheapest and best bang/buck tires to buy retail. Good if driving 600km to the border, and then another 200km to the nearest American city, and then back again for a set of snow tires, just isn't practical for you xD

In Hamilton there are some half decent used tire shops near the "Queenston Circle" and Barton Street. Try Gilbert Tires. If you willing to go to TO, try some used tire spots North of Finch on Keele.... you can find some for like $40 - $80 buck... Make sure you INSPECT THE TIRE and make sure you pick something with a DEEP TREAD. ROTATE UR TIRES too!

I've got a set of mint 16" BBS and Bridgestone Blizzak winter tires (with around 75-80% tread left) from my E36 328is. Check out my ad:
