Buying a 2007 X5 4.8I, need some advice
Hello Guys:
I'm looking for a 07 x5 4.8, the thing I worry the most is the V8 an its tranny, since bmw don't really do any service theses days, is there any known issues about the engine and tranny? In addition, is there any other known issue about 07 x5, that I should be aware of? Any input would bee deeply appreciated. Thank you.

I bought a 2007 X5 4.8L in February. Love the SUV as well as the power. I've had no issues. The tranny on occasion is quirky from a start but that's normal according to what I've read. My only criticism is the X5 can be a little thirsty.

^Has any of the X5's (especially the 07s) have had any major issues or recalls?
I tend to stay away from the FIRST year of a new bodystyle (or engine) change...

Reason I ask is because I've heard of a lot of problems with the older gen. (2001-2006)

My 2007 X5 4.8L has 64,000 km and it's been trouble free to date just some small odd stuff like the wood trim on the door had faded, a couple PDC's had peeled, etc all covered under warranty. I also bought the extended warranty so I shouldn't be too concerned. Love the truck and it's got some nice get up and go when you need it. All I need now is to buy a gas station...the X is a little thirsty.

Here are some pics of the 2007 X5 and a couple of the old vert. The later pics on the X5 have the extended wheel arches. The E46 still looks good after 11 years

Here are some earlier pics. You can see a comparison between the stock rims and the M wheels.
