That chassis will be scrapped and the new setup will be going into a 318i vert this time around.
Last year we had a completely stock 2.7L M20 Stroker making 460whp, that was somewhat short lived due to a stupid idea to use the crappy Cometic MLS gasket which decided to bleed cyl. pressure into the coolant system.
As a temporary fix we tossed the MLS (no damage to the fire rings or any signs of det, we assume just failure of the layers) in favor of a 100% stock OE-aftermarket paper gasket. Left the car on low boost/WG pressure of 17psi where it still made a very entertaining 400whp/400wtq.
Now it's time to once again increase displacement using all OEM parts. No aftermarket pistons or rods. Although we are planning on doing some head work this time around as well as a Schrick 288 camshaft with VAC springs.
A run down of the planned build:
-M20 885 head with slightly worked-over/ported runners, stock valves, VAC springs, Schrick 288 cam, adjustable cam gear. Stock IM, stock TB (might change for larger).
-M52 Crank, bobbed counterweights and balanced.
-M20 325i pistons (short-skirt)
-M20 SETA (130mm) rods, polished side beams.
-Ported OEM Exhaust Manifolds mated to existing custom Y-adapter setup fabricated by SEM Motorsports in North York.
-Precision 6262 Billet turbo, T4 flange 0.68 A/R
-38mm Turbosmart ext. WG with screamer.
-Turbo back 3" Exhaust
-Precision core FMIC
-2.5" SS Charge piping
-630cc Siemens Deka Injectors (High-Z)
-Single in-tank Walbro 255 High Pressure Fuel pump - stock Fuel lines, rail and regulator
-VEMS V3.3 Engine management - Tuning by Schnell Engineering
-6 speed E46 M3 gearbox, stock M3 clutch with Dual Mass flywheel
-2.93 LSD Diff
