I love my car, I love my car, i love my car...

Worked on my car last night trying to track down an oil leak. Managed tt get the oil changed and do some other fun stuff.

The good news:
I found the oil leak. Passenger side VCG is NOT leaking. I did it right the first time, kicka$$.

The bad news:
I found the oil leak. I know where the oil is leaking from and I'll have to redo the VCG as well the drivers' side VCG because both upper timing covers are leaking. The driver's side is actually pretty bad and has now started to emit smoke when sitting at a light.

Looks like I'll be skipping Friday night's M&M festivities as there will be a party in my garage...thankfully I anticipated this one and I have the gaskets. Just not looking forward to it.

In other fun news, I went to swap out my motor mounts last night, turns out I have 2 drivers side mounts brand new unused...skipped that portion too. Oh and I think my clutch fan is on it's way out and I need new belts all around.

So yeah, one last parts order for the year and hopefully I can save up and get shocks and tires for next season.

i still love my car, just not when it wrecks my driveway...

Because I love cross posting...

Car left me stranded on the side of the road tonight. Coolant leak from the back of the block. I'm guessing heater hose but I can't be sure nor can I be bothered. Got the car towed to the local indie. We'll see they say tomorrow.

I had one of those. The hose had simply worked its way off. Took no time for the shop to fix.

overhaul was done by PO. New WP, rad, thermostat, just not the stuff by the firewall.

Heater hose it is/was...

They tried to explain which one, it goes from the block on the left side to something but not the firewall. Estimate was all good so we'll see when I pick up the car.

Everlast, how's your back?

Should have let me know! I replaced all my coolant hoses and rad and such this summer. Pretty much cost me 150$ in total. First was the rad that leaked, and then I was driving home on the 401 to look at my gauge and it's almost nearing the red!! (took me 45minutes of pushing to get it home) the heater hose busted.

$300 later and it's running. They also checked my suspension and it turns out the tie rods are shot. That would explain the lack of feedback recently...sigh. I'll be bringing it back next week. At least I've found a competent shop...

Which shop did you end up taking it to? I wouldn't mind getting into a shop to do some repairs myself. Also glad to hear that your car is well on it's way to being in tip top shape again.

Precision Auto in Orleans. Most stuff I can do and I've told myself I'll be doing most of the repairs but suddenly I just don't have time/inclination/tools...

I'm in the same vote as you. I went to put 6x9 speakers into the rear deck and couldn't. Went home and spent the day fixing the car and getting things I can't do here in Ottawa, done back home in Oshawa since my father has all the air guns and tools.

I did a oil change, replaced the busted passenger buckle for a new one, put 6x9's into the rear deck (had to air grind the metal out of trunk so they could fit in properly) and I also cleaned out my ICV to fix my idle, and last but not least, fixed the leak from the small hole around the trunk rubber. All done within 4hrs.

Seems like I'll be keep this garage stored in my mind incase something big happens. I know my car will be far from even decent but it's the only car I got here until I start saving up for a E36 318 or something. I would love to turbo the engine that car and get decent fuel consumption just driving back and forth to work.
