I really dont see the point of the G8 or G20. I dont see why Canada should host it. I dont see how it helps Canada's image footing the entire bill. I dont see the point to any of it.

Add to this, Im curious how Harper thinks this helps the image of Canada, when Harper wouldn't go to some other national conventions unless Obama was going. And then when Harper showed up, he was sidelined anyway because hes such a tool bagging idiot.

Funniest line I read today about Obama:

"Somebody please call that village in Kenya and tell them we've found the idiot they're missing."

I don't see why they couldn't do this on a conference call/ video call. They go to ridiculous places, and most of the time don't accomplish anything.

Or if they must get together for group therapy, then go to a ****ing military base - all the security you can handle. Why must it be downtown?

i'm interesting in checking out the protest, but be more of a spectator. only thing stopping me is the new regulation powers that the cops have now. last thing i want is to be detained and question for no apparent reasons...

since this is only a once in a life time it'll ever be in toronto again, something to experience and witness... more power to the people... protesters that is....

I wouldn't go down there if I were you. Infact anyone that wants to live a normal life shouldn't go down there.

Heres why:

You go down there. you get detained on some bullshit - for no reason. next thing you know youre being IDd, photographed, fingerprinted, dna tested, urine tested, your name on file, etc, etc, etc.

your name gets black listed in the future. They know where you live.

we live in a police state, you want them to have all that information?

Im glad there are other people balsy enough to go down there to be honest. I cant afford to ruin my future though on some bs.

They all should have waited a week so they could do a video call on their new iphone 4G's... Actually, I bet they all have Blackberries.

What could 1.2 billion dollars have bought Canadians?

Education:
50,000$ per student to complete a 4 year degree = 24,000 students. Or they could have paid half the tuuition for 48,000 students.

More teachers:
Assuming the average high school teacher works 30 years starts about 50K$ a year, and ends at about 90K a year. Will say it costs about 100,000$ a year to have a teacher.
30x 100,000 = 3 million dollars

400 more teachers, for 30 years

Doctors

assuming it costs around 400,000$ per year for a specialist at 30 years each = 100 more SPECIALIST doctors in Canada.

Low income housing

It costs about 250,000$ to build a house.. they could have build 4800 homes. No idea how many apartment buildings, etc.

instead they wasted it on a police force.
