Ruining lives...

Or at least my wheels are ruining my BF's.

Rebuild in the works, this is the guinea pig.

Current:

17X7 et 45
17X8 et 43

After 2.5" and 3" lips:

17X9 et 20
17X10.5 et 13

Yes it will work.

For each 1" you - 12.7 from the OG et, and you need to take into account the current size, lip size and measurements after you reassemble. Wheel measurements from bead to bead / by centerline = ET.

I am more confused on how you get 9 adding 2.5 to 7, and 10.5 by adding 3 to 8! lol

Yes it will work.
That doesn't sound right for just adding lips.

are you also adding wider inner barrels?

Ok lets break this down... BBS RS are modular wheels, so when replacing the .5" lips with larger lips in this case you are adding 2.5" and 3".

So 7-.5=6.5
8-.5=7.5

6.5+2.5= 9
7.5+3= 10.5

No wider barrels, this is an identical set to what I built for the GTI.

The pics posted are an example of OEM BBS .5" reverse lips. The lips I will be using are like these...

Hope this clears it up.

Yea it does, I thought the OE lip were 1", so i was coming up .5 short in my calculation.
Which Model RS's are those and when are they getting mounted

Better question is what colour are they going to be! I'm sure they are not staying silver!

With the larger lip those rims are just . one of my all time favorites, if only they werent SOOO hard to keep clean!

That's ok, the OE gangster RS' in the VW world are RS301's and they do have a 1" lip. They also have up to 2" "reverse" (aka OEM BBS) lips, but good luck you'll pay top dollar for them... :| Which i guess is only for the BBS die hards?

Honestly, the rims (faces, lips, bolts) are immaculate, sure they were dirty when i picked them up but they totally cleaned up, I almost want to keep em silver... BUT I think I'm going to spray the faces Alpina white, fix up the OEM bolts (they say BBS on them.. lol minor details...), the lips I pointed out before and I'm on the fence about these custom badges.. Thinking either white with pink lettering, or pink with white lettering... Or white with green lettering the badges will be where I get "different" since the GTI is loud enough...

I shot the GTI earlier today, I really hope the 3" lip on the back of an E46 won't be retarded...

Any q's lemme know!
