LF: e36 exhaust

I was wondering if anyone has or knows where I can get my hands on an aftermarket exhaust for my 1997 328i. I'd like something that has a nice deep sound to it, but not something that will set off car alarms all over the place and get me pulled over. Something that has a nice enough sound that can be heard, but I can still hear the people sitting in the other seats of the car.

Remus, stromung, supersprint and even magnaflow (even though I'm normally not a big fan of them), just as long as its not something completely rediculous or without a name.

Let me know if you have one for sale, know of someone selling one or even a local manufacturer or something I can get one for a reasonable price. I'm not really looking to break the bank on it, so new or used can work. Just as long as it isn't rusted to shit.

Thanks

Just wondering if you've tried simply disconnecting the vacuum line to the exhaust bypass diaphragm? I was very satisfied with the low rumble, at idle, with the stock muffler fully open, on my 328.

^^ I know some of them get some half decent exhausts but normally they are spoken for almost immediately or there is no way to grab it unless you drop a downpayment on it before it arrives so that you have dibs and never even see it beforehand.

Is that good for the muffler though? I've heard that opening or closing or just generally taking parts out of the muffler can change the sound, but I've never really thought that doing something like that would be good for emissions or the car in general. BTW, beauty B3. lol

Its just a flap that works off of exhaust pressure to keep the car quiet at idle but opens up at higher rpms to allow more flow. It won't harm anything.

Does this only add a low rumble at idle then? I'd rather something that makes a nice sound when accelerating.

The flap normally opens between 2500 and 3000 rpm, so disabling it makes it louder while accelerating to that rpm. It doesn't cost anything to unplug the hose and try it.

Does anyone know of a DIY to disable the vacuum line? If not I can probably just ask the next time I bring it in to RMP.

Not sure. Just look at the two exhaust pipes under your rear bumper. If one of them has a small disc-shaped thingy, with a rubber hose attached, than yes. You can also see the flap inside the pipe.
