e30 trannie issue. slips

88 automatic, started to act up. trannie issue.
won't go past 3gear/45kms. just revs.
when fully warm. sometimes stays in nautral. or 1st gear.
turning it off and on again helps a little for a short period.
up hills are troublesome.
any suggestions.
oil change....??

check trans oil level. you may be due for a rebuild. not uncommon.

Get ready to get a new trans installed... or swap to manual. My original e30 did that years ago. After forward burned out... I was stuck driving in reverse for 40km... lol

hey, ive been looking at auto tranny stuff all day. it sounds like either your fluid is low, filter clogged, valves need cleaning, or you have clutch issues.

I found a manual from 88 that explains rebuilding it too, but I can't remember the link. It would only help you if you plan on replacing clutches yourself, otherwise, look for a used tranny somewhere. Like I am.
