Is it illegal to (partially) obstruct the "ONTARIO" on our license plates?
Is it illegal for a license frame or cover to obstruct/partially obstruct the province along the top?

Cover I don't think so...look at all the dealer plate covers or other covers that are partially hiding it.
If you are talking about bending then yes it is illegal. My friend got a ticket for that.

it is illegal to obstruct the plate in any manner, so if you have the dealer ring on and the cop is in a bad mood, you can get a ticket.

It is entirely illegal to obstruct any part of the plate, with any plate cover, whatsoever. Even the dealer installed ones are illeagal.

Do your dealer ones obstruct your plate though? Most of the dealer covers I've seen have extended bottoms with their logo/ad.

They don't obstruct your license plate letters/numbers, but strictly speaking, it still "obstructs your plate" because your plate is more than just the part with your letters/numbers... (and obviously the top-right corner with your sticker has to be showing too)
I don't think anybody cares about the "YOURS TO DISCOVER" part but a plate like this would obstruct part of "ONTARIO" as well:

So from my research it looks like ANY cover/plate is technically illegal unless it is 100% transparent. The question is.. Would the cops pull you over if you stretch the limits and part of "ONTARIO" is covered?

They're not illegal to sell, but they are for "off road use only"..yeah makes a lot of sense.

It is a win, win situation for the government. They make money on the plates and then they hit you with a fine.

Im seeing ALOT of drivers removing the dark ink that highlights the letters/numbers of the plate so it looks like a blank plate. The colors definitely didnt "wear off" since the letters "yours to discover" is still colored.Of course this is illegal but can be fought in court though I was told.Or drivers who have a clean car but the plates are full of dirt or grime covering the plate again illegal.Heads up by October all drivers must have a hands free device when using the cell phone.
