Rev Limiter?
Does anyone know if the e30 came with an optional rev limiter?, more specifically the 1990 325iX.
thanks.

What do you mean by optional? The rev limiter is in the ECU, and you likely have a 173 ECU which has the same rev limiting options as every other M20B25 motor, around 6750 (IIRC).

If you are implying that your car doesnt have a limiter, it has probably been chipped.

No, it will still have a limiter unless it's the worst chip in the world.

My car has a Dinan Chip and there is no rev limiter or if there is it's past 7.5K rpm.

Impossible. Dinan would never ever sell such a thing.
Stock 325i/iS/iX chips limit at 6400rpm.

What was happening is that sometimes around 5500 rpm the engine would cut out....I'm thinking more than likely it is a faulty distributor cap as I have encountered this issue in a few other e30s.

yeah, I don't know either, I've missed 2nd a couple times and it didn't sound like I had a limiter, it didn't feel like it either. It was heart wrenching.
So Sad.
Lol, I need to find out more shit on my car, I'm gonna come out to a meet in the summer and get some advice.
But I seriously don't think I have a limiter.

Seriously, you do. It's not something can be removed, its built in to the ECU.
Your limit might be higher if you have an aftermarket chip, ie 7K. Most people never rev their car near that high, so when you do its surprising how high it really is.
Keep in mind that you can still mechanically over-rev your motor by downshifting to an inappropriate gear. Think highway speed to 2nd.. no amount of cut spark will stop that from over revving.
Just get your motor warm and floor it, you'll hear the rev limiter.
