hey guys im looking to do a swap on my car its a 96 318is i was thinking of swaping it to 328 or 330 i just whanted some opinions on what u guys think would be better and how much of a price diference betwen the two also i will be selling my motor 96 318 with 125km standard but needs 2nd gr sincro

go with the M52 (2.8L) its a direct swap...as far as i know, the 330 motor isnt

i just finished the m52 swap in my 97 318is, it was pretty straight forward just little things here are there that you need to get along the way, but all in all not complicated.

price wise depending on the km's on the motor and tranny your buying around 1500-2200

then all the other little things you need along the way the price rises rather fast

2.8 is the way to go IMO, i plan on boost in the near future along with some m3 cams and a rebuilt head it will be fun

thanks guys for your feedback but what should a stock 328 do quarter mile i hered it 14s and what other littel things would i need for the swap besides motor trans and cumputer

well with the 2.8 your probably gonna have to change the diff as well as the drive shaft, the 318 diff is not really ment to handle all the torque, i would also rec. using the 2.8 rad, the shifter linkage is different, you need a new cluster from a 6cyl, exhaust is totally different you'll need that too, ill keep adding if i remember anything else
