Maybe it's just me, but I would rather have the peace of mind that my car isn't going to leave me stranded on the side of the road.

Yes, I am usually all for rebuilds, however doing a rebuild while swapping the motor in usually ends up in an over-budget project, and leaving it internally stock and then rebuilding it down the road (during winter when car is stored) will offset the time of the expenses.

That's just the way I look at it, since pulling a motor isn't a real big deal to me.
