I ran into your exact same problem. I bought 6.5 JL VR component speakers and could not fit them in so luckily I was able to exchange them for the 5.25 speakers. They went in fairly easy and they sound a hell of alot better than the stock speakers. It's just kind of a bummer about their location down by your feet.
