You’re right about the mid '90 Mustangs.
But the 'late 80's to early 90's were quick.
They were rated at 225 HP, and 300 lbs torque, and only weighed in at 3100 lbs, and geared aggressively.
That car stock would take any BMW short of a M series car, even today.
They are a PIA to launch, but in the hands of an experienced driver, they are formidable opponents on a 1320.
On a road track, they did leave lots to be desired.
The weight distribution on those car's were awful, and over-steered like a greyhound, but nothing some well controlled throttle adjustment couldn't fix....
