All I can say is the WRX has turbo lag, I have driven it for long periods od time back from Subaru Canada, I liked the '02 style much better then the '04 style.....Don't get me wrong, once you past about 2900rpm, there is sufficient power forsure, but do a quick change from 1st to second at 2500rpm and there is no power till you past 3000rpm in second......My BMW e36 has power constant even if you dump it into a higher gear at a low RPM, just the advantage of a naturally aspirated engine....
I have driven 2 STI's as well working for subaru and that is a totally different story.....Butloads of power all throughout the rev range and the handling is fantastic......You can adjust the differential on it, and tons of other neat options. It is priced very well for the options you get.....I am just not really a fan of the stock WRX.......Just my personal opinion......
