e39 540iA M-options

Putting out a feeler for my brother-in-law's 2002 540iA w/ M suspension and interior. Car is steel blue on dove gray, 182000 kms.

He bought the car earlier in the summer, but doesn’t need it anymore. He’s not in a rush to sell, but will consider any decent offer. I am not sure of valuation, but we figure around $9500 reflects the condition and options of this car. Only 9 other cars like this were made for the Canadian market.

It has a rare colour combination, turns heads everywhere. It will come with Style 71s (17”) with Bridgestone Potenzas at about 50% tread and a set of nearly new Pirelli winters on Style 50s (16”) if desired.
Options as ordered make an attractive package: Business radio, DSC, shorter final drive ratio, heated sport seats, M-Sport suspension and steering wheel, ski bag, headlight wipe/wash/Intensive cleaning system and rain sensor, high gloss shadowline trim and white indicator lights.

The car is overall in good shape, but has a few small issues that come with its age.
Solid mechanicals, just went in for a checkup last month. New valve cover gaskets, tranny output seal, front brake job, expansion tank piping and gaskets. Have a spreadsheet of all work done during his ownership, but nothing prior. He is the third owner, car was gently driven (mostly highway) in North Bay prior to coming here. All electronics work perfectly.

The issues are minor, mostly cosmetic. We will list absolutely everything here for transparency’s sake, and perhaps some OCD tendencies: some rock chips in the hood, dent and paint chip on rear left door and the left kidney is slightly loose. Some small rust bubbles on the rear fenders (endemic in e39s) and on the front rockers (loonie-sized). The bottom of the driver’s front fender liner does not clip on properly due to some prior damage, will try to have it fixed this week. The car had an accident around 2005, we suspect rear right corner was slightly damaged (but no receipts aside from an insurance tally for about $3.5k, no details and very hard to figure out).

Unsurprisingly, there are dead pixels on the displays. We have looked into fixing this, the dealer is obviously a no-go, but we have located a firm in the states who can fix it for about $400, which we will set up for a buyer. The interior is in great shape overall, only issues is that the driver’s seat has some very minor scratches from a back pocket.

Some mechanical work will however have to be done in the next two months or so: right rear wheel bearing is starting to make noise and front sway bar endlinks. We will try to do these this week as well (time permitting), or will include the parts in the sale. We also may install a 6CD changer depending on how soon it sells.
