most CAI's are shit. seriously, you're removing something designed by a team of engineers for something 3 guys did in a fab shop. is it surprising that it doesn't give huge gains? why would bmw engineers leave HP on the table? Yeah maybe 1-2 to quiet it down but you really think most cars intakes are restrictive enough to gain 10hp? not likely.
NO stock car runs at 100% of its potential!!! Its all about fuel milage and engine life! This is why you can get 15-20Hp just from the ECU program. Most parts around the engine are very restrictive, stock air boxes and exaust for the most part. My 4.6L V8 truck came with stock single 2" exaust, what a joke, and the airbox opening was about 2.5"-3", with the rest of the intake and MAF at 5"...
