An e21 update...

After an unsuccessful search for the perfect set of 15" rims, I decided to refinish the stock 13" turbines. The paint was embedded with years of brake dust that would just not come off no matter what I tried (various rim cleaners, oven cleaner, scrub brushes, wire brushes). They were quite neglected and ugly, but they were straight and had very little curb rash, so I figured I'd try to save them. I took them to a guy who does chemical stripping, so he soaked them for a few days, and $100 later I got back a set of bare rims in pretty good shape. Then I smoothed the curb rash with a file and some JB Weld. After a few coats of Dupli-color etching primer, silver, and clear, I am quite pleased with the results. They'll be getting brand new center caps, OEM metal valve stems, chrome lugs, and new 205/60R13 tires.
