E46 is known for this. The car needs to run longer to generate enough internal heat to burn off the condensation build up otherwise the oil seperator fails and you are out some $$$. I've had this happen now 2 winters in a row. Since I drive short distances to work next winter the car is getting parked.
The problem was the fact that the job was not done right the first time, it was your old hoses with a "custom" cold climate jacket...not OEM stuff. Follow my guidelines and you should be fine to drive it next winter.
