a) the condition of the car (must've been horrible)
b) the seller of the vehicle didn't know the value of what he was selling
I think you're right with number 2 but I saw the car and it was clean.
Exterior and interior were clean. Leather had regular wear but not excessive.
I would be driving it right now if I had found out sooner.
