Go to Princess Auto, and buy some buffing wheels and polishing/rubbing compound bars. Polish away. That's a REAL polish.

You might also want to check that many rims have a clear lacquer/clearcoat finish (especially BBS wheels) over the polished/machined portion of the lip/wheel. So you might want to think about that.

Windex is ammonia free and works very well... They also sell Windex Auto.
