Run your finger nail across the scratches; if it catches, you'll most likely need to paint.
If not, you can cut and polish them out. Keep in mind some clear will be removed in order to smooth them out. Takes a couple hours to make it real nice. There are many products out there but these are professional products that are not available in stores. Personally I use Ferecla- yellow bottle, which body shops use. BUT one has to know how to use it and preferred experience. otherwise you can make it worse or even burn through the paint.
Trust me, I speak from personal experience learning how too. lol.
