Unless your a very skilled driver and a persise control of the gas pedal, that much power on the street is useless. I can barely hold 2nd gear and that's well over highway speeds. 1000HP cars belong on a race track were you can use the proper tires to keep the power planted.
On the street, it's just for bragging rights, and loosing to cars making half your power because they can plant it and you can't.

That Porsche driver was spot on when he said 'Power is nothing w/o control'.
