I assume the only drawback with going with the 17" winters cited above is that they will not fill the wheel well as nicely as the 9" stock rims, right? I guess that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make for safety.

With the 225/50/17s, would using a 20mm spacer (to push the tire out more like the stock 245) and the associated longer lugs cause noise that some forum members have observed, or any other safety-related side effect?
