Argh

Driving down riverside behind a big moving truck. It drops a huge chunk of ice, and SMASH! Now I'm missing a fog light, fog light bracket is in pieces, and shroud under the car is split in half.

I knew I should have stayed home today. :(

Jamil20 12-19-2007 10:25 AM

I can't find the shroud on real oem. It connects with #9, and goes between the two supports as part of the bumper(I think).

but as they say it could've been worse

sorry to hear though

Jamil20 12-19-2007 11:59 AM

I asked on bimmerforums, I'm thinking it's #15 on this diagram.

Is it #14?

Shity deal for sure especially right before christmas. Did you get the guys plate number? I think he is responsible for any damages.

Jamil20 12-19-2007 01:11 PM

No, but I honked to try to get him to stop. I wasn't sure I had any damage at the time, so I gave up when he turned off the road. It was just some rental moving truck. It didn't feel so bad when I actually hit, and from the looks of it, that plastic piece is just torn out from its screw rather than split. I'll try to drive home with it and hope it stays on the car.

The foglight situation is shitty though. Those are not cheap. Didn't Barry have some for sale? No, I won't trade for seats. :P

ick, if it helps any, I have no shroud either. Actually, no fogs either...hell I just bought brake ducts from Tony this summer...make sure your condenser isn't fugged too...

My A/C is already fugged. Never got around to fixing it(again). :P

It leaks from the line connecting in to the condenser. I need to seal it somehow, or replace the lines. Maybe I'll get some help fixing that come spring. :)

You could look at this as a chance to mod -- you can get a regular fog from BavAuto for $69 US, or a kit with projectors for $149 US. That's certainly not a terrible price.

Those projector fogs don't look so great. Also, since my fogs were non-functional to me before this, I'm sort of hesitant to spend even $70 to try to replace one. I'm considering just getting the black-out covers for both sides, but I'll probably buy the one side and wire my fogs back up. Anybody know an underground garage where I can work? *mumble*

carjoe 12-19-2007 11:18 PM

Karim @corner73 quoted me $29 a cover. He might be able to get you a killer price on a single fog too.

No garage ideas for ya here...

Jamil20 12-20-2007 10:04 AM

That's pretty pricey at $29. I'm trying to find them in the for sale section on bimmerforums.com

I also managed to somehow crack my windshield this morning taking ice off my wipers. I think my car is trying to tell me it wants to be parked during the winters.

Philboski 12-20-2007 12:49 PM

I realise that this isn't a ton of help, given I don't know the phone number, and I haven't been there in a while, but this might spark someone else's memory -- there used to be a garage on Hawthorne that rented space for $10/hour. They had a lift and everything, and the guy was reasonably helpful. I imagine the price has gone up since then.
